JKR wrote a 800 word prequel about when Sirius and James were at school, here it is.

I read it kind of a year and a half ago. It's nice... although Rowling could have been a bit more comprehensive and show James' and Sirius' life a bit more... it's nice, I always love to read things about Siri, but actually it makes me feel the same way as I was before reading it, it makes no changes.
Could she please write a new one or improve this one???

I hope she does, that was very good. I think a book about James and Lilys life would be awsome.

in a diary point of view, the life and times of james and lily potter, show enteries for each of them year on year up to their death, show doodles, spells, potions and stuff learnt, how the teachers treated them and more, would be a nice insite, maybe put the whole thing to pdf document.

well, JKR has always been very creative - I loved it when my dad brought Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find them back form his london visit But I would actually prefer to see more about James, Sirius and Lupin's adventures (and perhaps even Peter Petigrew I guess) - must be similar to the Weasley Twins' That would also give rise to one of those small doodle-books like she did for Harry and Ron (as mentioned above).

I found some quite good fan fics about the Mauderers life, there was an especially good one about Lily and James called James and the Contact Lenses I think...

but the waterstones thingy wasn't a fanfic. You know that, eh, charles?

And I liked it a lot better when you could read it in Rowling's own hand. That was only up for so long, though. It's gone now.
