If the REAL mad eye moody was locked in a trunk throughout most of the book, why didn't he appear on the Maurader's map? Shouldn't there have been TWO dots labeled moody?

well i guess since he was in a trunk and so deep down it probbaly didnt notice it,
or he could have put some kind of spell on it..
i dunno really..

The book said he was only about 10 feet down in the trunk.

It was a magic trunk, and I assume that the map couldn't see inside.

I mean, it had seven different keyholes in one trunk with something in each compartment.

Maybe the map didnt show 2 people, as then the poly juice wouldnt be as effective as it is. Would have given it away too quickly??

i was thinking and another reason could be...
maybe there was only one moody and as he was in the trunk in the office harry would not have thought anything of it cos a teacher is usually in their office and maybe the other moody did show up as barty crouch junior but harry didnt pay much attention...i dunno...

Even if Mad-Eye Moody was on the map, it would only be ONE Moody due to the fact Bartemius Crouch Jr. was in disguise. This is proven by when Harry sees Bartemius Crouch on the map roaming around in Snape's private store room, this being Crouch but still in disguise as Moody as he searched for ingredients to the Polyjuice Potion.
