I'm going to be going as Luna for the midnight showing of DH next year and would like a wand for it. I don't like the Nobel Collection Luna wand and I don't really want to buy one from Alivans. I would really like to make my own. I was just wondering if anyone had made their own?
If you have, what wood did you use? What tools did you use? Do you have any advice for a new wandmaker?

Wood: hazel.
I used a series of chizzles and a hammer. Proper carving tools, then sanded it all down. In all honesty I still have to do some work on it.
Good peice of advice, don't start with a peice of wood that's too thick, it'll take days rather than hours. And a hazel wand will be white (naturally). I suppose you can paint it if you really want to

I found a very non descript wand at a costume shop. Its modeled after HP but it doesnt have any real connection.

Yup, I've made one. ^_^ Not from scratch, though. I used the handle of a Japanese fan (it was wood) and a chopstick. The handle is dark wood, while the chopstick is very light wood.
I want to buy one, though, but this will do for now.
