... If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
I prefer long books, challenges, short books end too fast Dx
I, like others found that the deaths only made the story better, there's nothing like the feeling of losing a character you've learned to love during the years.

I was just guessing the numbers and figures, pulling the puzzles apart. Questions of science – science and progress – don't speak as loud as my heart. Tell me you love me, then come back and haunt me, oh when I rush to the start. Running in circles, chasing tails, coming back as we are.

She had to kill of some of the characters because it was an escential part of the plot. She might not have wanted all of them characters floating around in every crack and cravis in the books basicly posing and looking pretty. Thier roles in the books had come to an end. It also brought alot of hype for the fifth and sixth books, Well it did in Ireland. In OOtP everyone here thought Hagrid was goin to be the one to die, But it was Sirius. And in HBP people here found out that Dumbledore was going to die, which obviously made readers want the book even more.

I could go on, but I think you get the point-- deaths are necessary in lots of stories to make them forceful.

i totally agree. there would not be any emotion. at all. lol...

If J.K hadn't kill off all those characters the books would be empty, i hate rereading the section of ootp when Sirius dies but with out the book would of been empty. Deaths makes the books and it also allows us to see the brutality and sadness that is in war not just in the books but in real life

I think he meant James and Lily, *lol*
But it's silly to complain about their deaths because otherwise the story wouldn't really exist :P

Cinderella is kinda brutal, actually. At least the original one, the Disney version is fine xD

It is to bad that you hate J.K. I don't like that she killed so many characters off. But I still like her. She got me interested in reading. If not for her there would be no H.P.

I agree with this idea. Without character deaths the harry would have ended up living a totally perfect life with sirius, although this would have been amazing, it would have been very bland to read about. JK did a marvelous job with killing off characters in relevance to the plot.
