The Philosopher's Stone

Isnt the 1st book called the philosophers stone? Yes it is, i just checked, so isnt the title of this forum section wrong!! serious oversight!

Depending on where you are at depends on the title. I have sourcers stone, and movie one is called sourcers stone

is this an american site then coz i just checked and its called the philosophers stone in every country except america. why did they change the title for america?

Yes, here in America it is called 'The Sorcerers Stone'

I have no idea why they changed it.
I think it's rather silly to change certain words in the British and American versions. I would like to read it as it should be, not some changed version.

Well, I guess they changed it because here, a Philosopher and Sorcerer are two completely different things. Maybe they are there too....I don't know.

Ah, I'm confused

But anyway, yea...I guess they said Sorcerers Stone in the movie because there are more Americans than there are Britains.

No, they did two versions of the film. One with Philosophers stone, and one with sorcerers stone.

They changed it because they didn't think that Americans knew what a philosopher is.

What? Are you saying that the actors said two different things?
Sorcerer for America and Philosopher for elsewhere? Cool!

And a philosopher is like a really in depth scholar.
At least that's what it is here.
